Ski Conditions

Good skiing can still be found on sheltered slopes on N and E aspects at treeline and even in the alpine. Used terrain cautiously and conservatively today.

Lots of whumpfing tells us that the snowpack is still weak. 100 - 120cm of snow at treeline. Extensive windslab in alpine on most aspects traveled on. Windward aspects extensively scoured. On non-wind disturbed slopes, 5 to 15cm of low to medium density recent snow sits on top of thin soft slabs in some areas. 30 to 40cm of storm snow is generally supportive but may react as a slab. This overlies a generally weak and faceted mid-pack. Foot penetration variable (sometimes 30cm / sometimes ground). Weak basal facets as previously reported are not inspiring confidence on any big features.

Air temperature of -2 at 2350m. Surface snow temperature -5.

Lots of bombing going on across the way at Sunshine and Bourgeau (see Parks Av Bulletin).
