Melting Col And Opening Cracks

Bugaboos Conditions

Climbing Conditions

The upper 20’ or so of the B-S col is melted out now which contributed to several near miss rock fall incidents over the past week.

In addition, the bugaboo glacier’s crevasses are opening up quite a bit (see pic). We chose to swing far skiers right near the rock buttress to navigate the highest crack when descending from pigeon.

Finally, the snow has almost all but disappeared off the lower east facing l slopes on the ears between descent. The talus cone on the approach to the crescent towers have formed “glide” like failures exposing ice and causing frequent rock fall in that area (see photo)
