Ski Conditions

Many parties out on the Wapta today. We had a nice day skiing around St Nic with a side trip up Olive today with fast travel conditions on supportive wind affect, and decent skiing on recrystallized snow in (select) sheltered areas.

Coverage was variable with snow depths probed on the glacier ranging between 30-200cm (160cm average) dependent on exposure to wind. Two open crevasses remain immediately to the west of St. Nic, and a few sags could still be seen on Gordon.

Moderate wind out of the south this morning was moving some snow around, but seemed to calm later in the afternoon. The inversion was not as strong as forecast, with Alpine temperatures reaching 1°C. The only avalanche activity we saw was a small windslab coming out of extreme terrain above the headwall on the approach to bow hut that did not run far.
