Winter Conditions at the Columbia Icefields

Mount Athabasca Area Conditions

Climbing Conditions

We were on the North Glacier at Mount Athabasca today. It snowed hard all day. There was about 15-20cm of new snow at the toe of the North Glacier at 2:30pm. No avalanche activity noted, but visibility was poor.

The highway was bare and wet but we did see one bus in the ditch at Parker Slabs as we left the Icefields.

Note that there is cell service now around the Icefields Centre, including the North Glacier of Mount Athabasca.
