Went for a day trip in the Watersprite Cabin area. Was able to park at the end of the road at ~850m with minimal snow driving. High clearance vehicle is mandatory as there are some serious cross ditches enroute, but a standard truck is fine. Good coverage for skinning/skiing all the way from the car to the hut and beyond. 120-150cm of settled snow in the 1400-1800m elevation range. Despite the warm temps the snow surface is settled recrystalized soft cold snow on all shady slopes open to the sky. In the trees, it is warmer and moist. Creek crossing still remain troublesome. Snowpit tests had no results.
