Warming Up! Some Wind Affected Snow.

Cirque Peak North Bowl, Jimmy Simpson Creek, Banff Park

Ski Conditions

I skied with a couple clients into the North Bowl on Cirque Peak in Banff Park today, up Jimmy Simpson Creek. A -30C start warmed to -8C at 2600m at 1:30pm. Quite pleasant in the sun with calm to very light winds. There are a variety of surfaces, from cold soft powder below treeline to wind scoured and wind crust in the alpine. There are some good turns to be had in sheltered areas in the alpine. No whumphing, no avalanche activity to report.
