A few semi recent observations from the Bow Hut and Peyto Hut area on the Wapta Icefields from July 19-23.
Good travel in general with some sloppy glacier swamp on the slope coming down from Thompson pass. (This will melt back quickly over the next week. )
Bare ice at and below Peyto Hut.
There was no freeze during our days up there.
Some interesting new small islands of rock have melted out near the base of the ridge of Mt Thompson over the last few years. As well the toe of the Peyto glacier continues to lose volume and the lake near the toe has grown significantly since the last picture taken In 2011.
