We skied up US Basin and descended NE from the summit of US Basin peak ("Gary's"). The surface was extremely firm due to downslope winds from the strong wind event March 5-7. Good steep chalky skiing! Other reports have provided similar surface conditions on all exposed slopes in the alpine, even leeward NE aspects. Southerly and westerly aspects above treeline are bare due to wind scouring and melting.
