Hi Folks

Mosquitos, mud and wildflowers were in such enormous abundance, making them the most significant attributes of this very scenic trip.
Consider a bug net as an absolute 'must have item'on your pack list.

Be prepared, that all paths in the upper Astoria Creek Valley - Amethyst Lake - Maccarib Pass - and Portal Creek trail system are experiencing extensive muddy conditions; Maccarib Pass and Portal Creek being the worst.

However, the display of wildflowers was absolutely stunning.

A bear warning for this area is in effect, although we did not see any.
