This morning I climbed up Mt Begbie and skied back down. The trail was mostly free of snow up to around 1500m, then I was able to skin from 1600m. Unsurprisingly the snow didn’t freeze last night, but it was mostly pretty consolidated up to ankle deep. The ski conditions were reminiscent of spring in Australia.... very sticky. However, it was a beautiful morning to be in the alpine, and still more fun than walking down.
