Ski Conditions

Great tour on a high avalanche day took us to the Mayflower Lakes area below Mount Helen in Summit county. Snow depth was 170cm (75cm new) at 11,000' and still coming down this week. There were southeast faces of Mount Helen that have avalanched in the last few days with the new and rapid load. With some work we got small terrain features to collapse without sliding (likely because it was supported from below). Snow was dry (unlike when the storm first came in 24 hrs prior) and I suspect we'll see a lot of wind transport during and following the storm. Keeping to low angle terrain will be wise for some time to come.
