Excellent skiing at the Gorge today. The road was not plowed in the morning and chains were helpful to plow through 30-40m cm of overnight snow.
Trail breaking was a workout with 60 cm of Fist resistance snow over another 15 cm of 4 Finger. The new snow was wrinkling and sloughing in steep terrain, particularly when stimulated by tree bombs. No significant shears were noted in the upper 150 cm. The Dec 18 facets are now down 120 cm and appear to be settling and rounding in todays pit. (1650 m N aspect. HS 245 cm).
Skiing 35-40 degree terrain produced minor sloughing.
Features were selected to provide good escape routes and minimize exposure.
