Ski Conditions

In the wake of the Mar. 28th cold front, the treeline areas of Silverdasiy received 35cm of new snow. Down at the highway level, there was around 10cm of dry snow on a moist 75cm base. The treeline snow had a moderate shear down 15cm within the new snow while the new snow was bonding nicely to the layers below. Probing indicated a progressive strong mid and lower pack. At 1800m, the HS was 3m+ (above average snow depth for this area).

The afternoon temperature was -6. Winds were light from SW. The morning started with scattered mid-mountain clouds and sunny periods, by late morning it became overcast with convective snow flurries, with occasional sun ball observed through the clouds

No new avalanches were observed, no cracking, no settlements, the new snow was settling as expected in late March, The heavily corniced ridge above the North bowl of Claimstake Mtn was, as usual, heavily corniced with new additions and fresh noses!
Some larger avalanche paths had evidence of debris that probably ran during the storm. Most of these deposits ran out in the mid or lower track. Visibility wasn't great so these obs are limited.

I avoided steep terrain and start zones and found good skiing on supported terrain. Sliding down the logging road was a bit slow in the afternoon.
