We skied a 22-25 degree south facing gully and lower fan feature today in the Lake Louise area from our high point of 2260m down to 2000m. Strong winds from the West were observed moving lots of snow around at TL and above. Winds picked up even more around 130pm on our way out. We did get a decent look into the alpine when clouds cleared. No slab activity noted but plenty of big loose snow avalanches in steep terrain. We had about 40-50cms over the Nov 5 rain crust that was not reactive to skier traffic.
We stayed away from steeper lee loaded slopes in the alpine and morainal features.
Ski quality was surprisingly good.
