Just out from a week in Mons, Lyell, Icefall creek area. Great travel and snow climbing conditions all week on the grey and the sunny days. Just some soft snow on steep south on the past 2 warmer afternoons but last night was very warm so that may have changed. Snow line is slowly getting higher so more bare ice is coming. Lyells and Mons still in great shape. Forbes NW face is getting more "mixed". see photo
On Division Mountain we ran into some spooky byproducts of glacial recession. BIG unstable blocks left behind by retreating ice getting to the col SE of the peak took some very careful maneuvering and the consequences of one block triggering others would be probably catastrophic if you were in the way.
