Recent snow storm in Jasper

Jasper Nation Park

Access

A recent storm has blanketed Jasper Park with a layer of new snow. Road closures are in place for the Maligne Lake road and Meitte hot springs access due to poor driving conditions. It appears that most significant snow accumulations are the north eastern region of the park. Back country reports from the Maligne Lake area describe 40cm to 70cm of snow at treeline elevations. Marmot Basin ski resort has recorded 35cm at the weather plot (1985m).

Snow amount seem to be less further south, at the Columbia Icefield's 5cm was measured at the highway elevation (2000m). No reports yet of snow amounts at higher elevations.
