Larry S and I skied Dagobah System on the N side of Glacier Crest yesterday, Dec 17th.
Light snow and lousy visibility all day, -1* at the car in the AM and PM.
Saw a couple small (size 1? size 2? we differed in opinion) on the W side of the ridge at treeline on a steep feature just under the cornice, all about 60-70cm deep.
Plenty of people out and about in the area, but we had our little line to ourselves.
We dug at the top, and found intermittent results on a spotty surface hoar layer down ~70cm. Very soft snow above that.
We skied pretty cautiously on the way down, as we triggered every mushroom we skied past - they all ran easily on that same layer, but none of them propagated more than a metre.
Snow felt "upside down" (our ski tips kept getting stuck under a layer, making the skiing challenging) at the top of our run (~1850m) but improved as we made our way down.
Great day out with great peeps =)
