Professor Falls Avalanche

Mt Rundle, Banff National Park

Avalanche Conditions

Hiked in to take a look at the runout of a large avalanche that occurred last week on the Professors ice climbing route on Mt Rundle. The size 3.5 avalanche ran all the way over the lower pitches of Professors depositing debris at the bottom of the first pitch. Quite impressive! Although a large chunk of the start zone has run, there is still a lot of snow above the climb and given the events we have been seeing lately, it seemed a bit spooky even hiking up to the base of the route.

Stay safe out there!
