Climbing Conditions

Climbed N Ridge of Assiniboine Tuesday under blue skies and favorable conditions. Below Red Band encountered significant verglas and snow patches. Ascent gully of Red Band was full of ice and snow and climbing was slippery and difficult to protect. We retreated. Overnight temps at the hut were not below freezing but an overnight storm brought with it sleet and rain in the morning and visible snow above 3000m that was staying put on the mountain as we descended from the hut today.
