Surprisingly decent skiing up along the Icefields Parkway today. Slight inversion, no wind and lots of sun made the -19c at the trailhead seem reasonable. Around 15-20 cm new snow hasn't yet been touched by the wind where we were. The lower snowpack is fairly weak at low elevations but breaking trail and downhill skiing treeline and above was good as long as you chose your line carefully. With the soft new snow lots of rocks are just hidden so it is heads up hockey right now even in good light.
Not much faith in the current snowpack and it will likely deteriorate if that fluffy snow gets moved around by the wind and the temperatures go up.
