New snow, good conditions

Climbing Conditions

I've been up at the Columbia Icefields the past couple of days. Weather has been mostly overcast with flurries resulting in about 5 cm of snow on the lower glaciers and probably more than that higher.

Conditions are pretty good though with lots of snow coverage on the glaciers. I measured 130cm at 2500 m on the North Glacier yesterday. Most snow is firm and makes for good walking as long as the temperatures are cool. Lots of snow remains in moraine features and the Parkers Ridge crevasse rescue practice site is working well.
