Good conditions on ascents of Mt Victoria and Mt Huber via the Huber ledges today. Clearing skies overnight allowed for a reasonable freeze and travel on the Huber Glacier was generally supportive, becoming soft around 1000 as the sun hit it.
The schrund below the gully leading to Mt Victoria was filled in and allowed for an easy crossing. The gully leading to the ridge was still mostly snow and ice. Crampons were required to ascend and descend this section. This may melt out soon if things stay warm. The ridge to the main summit of Victoria is a mix of rock and snow and later parties were able to travel without crampons for much of the way as the snow on the ridge softened.
Mt Huber is also in good shape with snow travel all the way to the top, though the upper section may soon be icy with the forecast heat. The surface snow on the NE face was becoming quite wet by 1030 as we descended.
