Mt Macdonald and Tupper conditions

Climbing Conditions

Access to Mts Macdonald and Tupper is currently good, with snow in gullies down to within 200m of the valley floor. The NW Ridge of Macdonald is clear of snow where it counts, but expect the bigger ledges up high to still hold snowpatches; same with Tupper. The Herdman Couloir, like the gullies below it, holds lots of snow but is also spitting out rocks (so be quick in it)!

Connaught Creek is pumping with all the rainfall and snowmelt, so expect the first crux of your day to be crossing it for MacD.

Rockfall should be expected, either naturally or from other climbing parties. With the forecasted sunny weather coming by the end of the week, there may be a few parties on each mountain, so be aware that your rockfall could affect folks lower down.

Sir Donald and the Asulkan Traverse are still snow-covered and are not in shape. Uto's SW Ridge should be snow-free on the pitched climbing, but the ledges in between still have plenty of snow. Be patient, eventually summer comes to these parts!
