Hi Everyone,
Two friends and I ascended Mount Robson over July 17 - 19 via the Patterson Spur and Kain Face. The approach trail to the Patterson Spur is very well flagged and in good condition. After the heat wave over the last couple of weeks, temperatures cooled down for a few days and there was actually a decent amount of overnight freeze during our trip. We managed to traverse from the Robson/Resplendent col and drop down to The Dome over the bergschrund via a decently firm snow bridge. We accessed the Kain Face by crossing over a snow bridge on the climber's right of the slope and encountered both snow and ice on the face itself taking a line near the middle-right of the face with less overhead cornice exposure. Above the Kain Face, the upper mountain had decently supportive snow coverage and we kicked steps following old tracks bypassing bare ice to reach the summit. On our descent off the mountain, there was already more melt occurring with the Kain Face showing more bare ice. Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like a few more pictures of conditions on the route itself.
Happy Trails,
