We had an excellent few weather days on a guided ascent of Mount Gimli. The road is in excellent condition and is passable with AWD car. The approach trail is snow free with the exception of the last few hundred meters where the snow is mostly supportive just before the campsite. The campsite is also snow free with all regular campsites available and good flow at the regular watering hole.
.
We had dry conditions on route and used the West face rappels for descent, avoiding the still snowy regular descent route (East ridge.) A 65 meter rope was used to safely manage the rappels and I would consider this a minimum length as there are some rope stretching lengths between anchors.
All other objectives in the area still had quite snowy looking approaches, including Mount Asgard and the Wolfs Ears.
