Mount Assiniboine

Assiniboine North Ridge

Climbing Conditions

We climber Assiniboine's North Ridge on Thursday July 3rd. Wednesday we arrived at the Hind Hut at 4 pm from the BC side just in time to avoid a series of thunderstorms that came in with rain.

We put on crampons at approximately 2900 meters in order to take advantage of easy snow travel up to and above the red band. Snow depth was ideal for easy cramponing. The summit ridge was equally just about the right amount of snow for easy travel.

We chose to descend the Chouinard couloir with easy face out snow downclimbing.
