Climbing Conditions

Hi all,

I guided an ascent of Yak Peak via "Yak-Check" (650m, 5.10a) today July 21, 2019. We had sunny skies, a light breeze and temperatures in the 20C range. There were many hikers on the scramble route but we were the only climbers.

The route is in great shape and mostly dry. The few slightly wet sections encountered were manageable and did not affect our progress. The descent scramble is free of snow.

Many of the bolts on the last 5 pitch of the routes are starting to rust, they are currently still adequate. Chatting with some locals, it sounds like there is a plan forming to address this in the near future.

Enjoy the sun!
