Ski Conditions

The Adventure Guide Diploma Ski Expedition from Thompson River University flew early on May 7 to Mistaya Lodge where we skied around the vicinity three days. We had good freeze during the first three days which allowed us to climb Boomerang peak, Mount Nexus, Mount Tilley, Mount Baker & Mount Gordon.

We went out early (7AM) yesterday morning from Bow Hut since we were expecting to have to deal with a warm day. The freeze in the AM supported us on our ski very well all the way across Bow Lake. However we were dealing with a thinner crust yesterday AM since we were punching through with our boots when we had to cross the creek in the canyon.

Yes, we had to take our ski off several times while skiing in the canyon to cross open water. I believe this canyon is pretty done for this year.
