Ski Conditions

I guided a strong and motivated couple to Sapphire Col via the Cleaver route today.

The recent storm snow seems to be bonding well but I was on the lookout for wind slabs on the cross loaded terrain we traveled.

The Alpine has been nuked by wind over the last few days but the sheltered route to Sapphire was relatively spared, with the exception of the exposed treeline elevation skiing where the wind did its mischief, leaving challenging, punchy/upside down skiing.

Winds were moderate SE and temps as low as -27°C at 2600 m.
