Went for a morning jaunt up Cascade today with some fellow mountain runners. There are a few snow patches that remain on the west side slopes that are easy enough to cross, but punchy and knee deep. There is a lot more snow on the south side below the false summit. The snow was soft enough today for good steps in trail runners, but would be a little tricky and exposed on a cold morning with an overnight freeze. If you head up there after a cold night, you may want some decent boots and light crampons to make the traverse feel less sketchy.
