Ski Conditions

Ski Conditions

Despite the early season conditions, we made the most of fast travel under blue sky to the 2600m south summit of Hudson Bay Mtn.
Travel above 1500m is good w skis, with a solid melt freeze crust, and snow depths of 30-40cm in the Alpine. Above 1800m, 5 cm of previous storm snow has been blown around into thin slabs in lee terrain.
Noted 2 size 2 avalanches in very steep, windloaded pockets on E asp high in the alpine of the Henderson Couloir from the weekends storm.
Cornices are growing along the summit ridge and require awareness in route selection. Boot crampons were not required.
