Ski Conditions

Today Olivia and I skied to Helen shoulder and traversed to Crystal ridge to descend on the North side near the Cube then returned via Helen shoulder.

Temperatures at the vehicle in AM -9 and on returning in pm -6.
There was a temperature inversion from tree line and up that saw temperature to +5 or more on solar aspects.

There were numerous point releases from any steep rocky zones. Lots of snowballing, lots of sharks out there, still a very early season snowpack. No major avalanches observed just heavy effect of solar input on upper snowpack. This will mean a melt freeze crust on solar aspects at the next freeze. True polar aspects, and terrain below 1900m remained dry winter snow despite the warmth.

Happy adventuring!
