Great skiing, with developing Deep Slab creeping up as a concern
Quickie, Terrain Park, RMNP
Overall, the skiing in RMNP has been fantastic this year, with consistent snowfall and relatively good stability. Coverage is great, with many of the normal obstacles now unrecognizable. Wind has not played as large a role in the formation of the snowpack this seaon, as storms have come rolling through before the winds can tear it all away. However, multiple weak layers, including burried surface hoar and near surface facets have been showing up in test results. While our chances to trigger an avalanche that goes to the ground seems far away, we're seeing a structure being built to step down if enough loading takes place. Stay diligent.
As Ian Fowler with CMS said in the parking lot today, "what a great season to be a Ski Guide in The Park!"
