Avalanche Conditions

Avalanche Conditions

Some great deep powder skiing at Sugarbowl today. Of note was a recent (24-48 hours), storm slab avalanche that originated in the cliffy area west of the Norheim Couloir and ran well out onto the flats below the couloir. Crown appeared to be up to 100 cm deep and 100-150 m across. It was size 2.5, maybe 3.
