Went for a wander into Gorman Lake near Golden BC today. The logging road access is as good as it has been over the past few seasons. You don't need a high clearance vehicle, or FWD, but this probably isn't a trip you want to take in a minivan. The last few km are the roughest. Our Subaru Outback worked just fine. The avalanche debris has melted around the parking area, but there is still some of the "usual" parking area under snow.
The trail into the lake is in good shape, and mostly dry. All of the bridges and boardwalks are in decent shape. We only had to cross snow in two places, one small section along the boulder field below the lake and then in the "choke" right near the lake. The lake itself is ice free, but it did look like if you wanted to go around to the backside you would have to cross some more snow.
There wasn't too much smoke, and we did get some good views from the lake. The wildflowers are out in force along the trail and up at the lake, however the bugs were aggressive. Bring your DEET for this one!
