Theo and I skiied in the Hero's Knob area of K-Country yesterday, finding good boot top (and better!) pow, and only a modest amount of old tracks. (probably gone by now with new snow overnight) Snowing lightly all day, wind was calm, -20* for a high at 2170m.
Watched 3 groups go up and over the bench to the N facing ski run into next valley (sweet 16 I think its called..?). We bailed on this option, due to a breakable crust down 30cm that I didn't love, and some sudden results in facets underneath another crust complex, down 50cm. Found these results only in 1 pit, in a shallow snow area, so I do NOT think they are representative of whats going on the area... BUT I sincerely hope that other skiers are looking before they leap, and remembering that "LOW LOW LOW" does not mean "GO GO GO".
Just my 2 cents.
