The Winter Permit System in Glacier National Park for the 2015/16 season will no longer be in effect after today, April 15th. We thank the Canadian Armed Forces who have worked with us to keep the transportation corridor open and safe from avalanches as well as the backcountry visitors who have complied with the system throughout the season. Compliance is crucial to the continued success of the system.

Please note that Parks Canada’s Avalanche Control team may use explosives launched from helicopters to keep the highway safe. Avalanche control measures are not taken to render the backcountry safe from avalanches; skiers are responsible for their own safety.
