Avalanche Conditions

Few obs from a week of guiding and avalanche courses at Bow Summit, a recreational trip near Emerald Lake, training day on Hero Loop in Kananaskis and some Lake Louise leg burners.

We've found the Nov 15th crust-facet layer to 2100m (Kananaskis), 2000m (Yoho) and not observed at Bow Summit. Besides wind slab shears, this layer has been observed as the main snowpack concern.

We observed evidence of a widespread cycle to Size 3.5 that came out during the first atmospheric river (~Nov 15). The main gully on Observation Peak ran full path to the mature forest which produced frozen debris from a wet snow mass.

As for travel, we've felt more confident in areas that had previously avalanched during the mid Nov storm, but have been very cautious around TL and BTL locations where the crust exists that have not previously avalanched.

Cranking snow today at the Lake and the legs are cooked:)
