Spray Valley Provincial Park/ Alberta

Trail Conditions

Improvements on the Galatea Trail continue to be done.
Park crews are working tirelessly on restoring the flood damaged Lilian Lake campground, hoping to complete the task in the very near future.

Guinn's Pass Trail, branching off from Galatea Trail, has sections of washouts, making route finding a necessity in those areas.
Staying close to the creek drainage, a path becomes visible again in the upper last third of the steep slope, winding a little into scree terrain, before making a turn left over the small creek into the alpine meadow. From this point it becomes a defined trail.

Caution, signs of fresh bear diggings and scat were constant reminder to stay alert, while we were travelling.

From Guinn's Pass the trail into Ribbon Lake camp is in good condition. Bridges are in place for creek crossings, with some exceptions of minor drainage runs, where crossing them on your own is not a problem.
The campground is well looked after.

Buller Pass Trail, our option to finish the trip, is clear too, with very small snow patches lingering at the pass itself.

Wishing everyone a good start to the summer

Happy Trails, Martina
