Climbing Conditions

I guided a Wapta Ice Hike with an ascent of Mt Thompson August 18-20. The firn line is sitting at about 2800 metres. Lots of dry glacier and icefield everywhere. I carried the rope and never took it out of my pack as we could see and walk around all crevasses.

Saturday was smokey, Sunday less so, today it looked like all the smoke had blown back into BC. Alberta was lovely, if not totally, clear.

Mt Thompson's northwest flank is bone dry.

Happy trails,
