I climbed Mt Temple’s East Ridge August 13th alongside fellow guide Vince Lauzon and our guests Jason and Jordan. Lots of people enjoying the high pressure lately and I counted 6 parties including ours on route that day.
We chose a bike approach from the picnic area across from Moraine Lake Rd.
The route is dry to the summit ridge. I searched for water or snow in the usual spots (my 8th trip up this route) with no luck.
The glacier travel on the ridge was easier than I have experienced in the past. Mostly flat footing and good traction on the sun affected ice. Where the upper ice ridge steepens you can move left and travel where the ice has melted back from the rock ridge. There was a good sized puddle and some running water midway across the glacier to refill bottles.
Looks like a few more good weather days before temps cool off starting Friday.
I hope you’re all enjoying the summer,
