We went for a short walk today near Whitewater/West Arm PP to see how conditions are shaping up.
There was ~10cm at the base of the ski hill and HS gradually increased to 75cm-120cm at ~2200m. At treeline, ~15cm of 4F- snow overlies a semi-supportive 5-10cm P+ MFcr. Below this the snowpack consists of moist grains to the ground.
Poor visibility and boney conditions relegated us to down skinning the skin track and down bootpacking the Half Dome ridge bootpack. Conservative skiing on the ski runs below made for some acceptable turns. On the high side the bootpack into Five Mile is in.
