Ski Conditions

I skied the usual haunts Tuesday 15 Nov 2022 with friends. Travel at valley bottom and treeline was rugged with plenty of alder and short conifers to halt your progress. Creek crossing are also rugged with open water.

In the alpine, we probed over 100cms of snow. There is some wind effect with stiff surfaces but surprisingly even coverage. Of note, we observed evidence of up to small sz2 avalanches, loose dry, that we thought ran during the storm cycle that would have deposited most of the existing snowpack. These ran to the bottom of track and the largest well into runout. In the alpine, the snowpack is settling nicely into what could be considered a supportive albeit shallow midpack.

We observed surface hoar growth up to 40mm up to tope of treeline that will likely make things sporty with the incoming storm!
