Parks Canada has reopened access to the Illecillewaet and Asulkan drainages. Their first round of wildlife work has been completed. They anticipate additional work involving closures to resume after the May long weekend. The closure will hopefully only affect access to the Wheeler Hut. Access to the trails will hopefully remain open. The wildlife work involves grizzly bears, so we appreciate your cooperation in obeying all closures.

On this note, it is highly likely that there will be group size restrictions at some point this summer in the Asulkan/Illecillewaet regions. Popular objectives in the area include Mt Sir Donald and Uto Peak. If you are planning trips to the area, it may be worth your while to see if you can get 4 or more people, as this has been the group size allowed in the area. At this point in time, there are no group size restrictions.

Thank you for your cooperation.
