We climbed Mt Uto yesterday (2016/07/29) with beautiful dry conditions. We approached up the moraine below the west face of Sir Donald crossing three snow patches to get to the Uto-Sir Donald Col. There was no overnight freeze resulting in easy travel across the snow. With a strong overnight freeze an ice axe would be handy on this approach. The Summit bypass on Sir Donald is still holding snow, looks like it would be best to descend the NW ridge directly from the summit for the time being.
