Ski Conditions

The past few days have had an impact on the snowpack. A strong inversion today with below freezing temperatures in valley bottoms and temps around +6 or more in the alpine.

Winds were mainly calm except for strong S-SE winds blowing plumes of snow off Mt Outram (2500m)

The snowpack has settled and evaporated in the past days of high pressure. The cold valleys had well-developed surface hoar over a soft faceted crust in the valley bottom. At 1500m there was about 70cm of HS, it looked quite a bit deeper above.

Observed one sz 1 slab that came of a N. aspect rock-slab at 1300m
