Hi all,
We spent the last 5 days in the bugaboos based out of Applebee campsite.
The Bugaboo - Snowpatch col was still passable but conditions changing quickly. See photo from yesterday July 11, 2025. There was good snow coverage and no open crevasses from the Crescent Glacier right to the col. The rappels on the climber's left side of the upper section, we're in good shape and fast when using two 60 M ropes. Crampons and Ice axe were needed.
Despite the col being in reasonable shape, we chose to minimize our exposure by using it only once. There are already so many exposed loose rocks threatening the ascent line from all sides. As per usual, this will become more problematic as summer progresses.
Overall we had great early summer conditions with some residual winter snow in select usual places.
Enjoy the alpine rock!
