Trail Conditions

Trail Conditions

I spent the last couple of days in Waterton Lakes National Park. Most peaks on the eastern side of the park are either snow free or are holding only a small amount of snow in their gullies or on their leeward slopes. Those peaks closer to the divide still look like they've got another week or two worth of snow on them. From what I could see from Mt. Crandell, the Alderson-Carthew trail, as well as the Akamina Ridge route and Lineham Ridge route are still snowbound. Trails near the townsite and at lower elevations are clear and dry.
While I didn't drive into the Castle, from a cursory examination the same seems to be true. Eastern / Front range mountains are mostly clear of snow, whereas mountains in the west Castle are still holding a decent amount.
Note: The Akamina Parkway is closed past the Little Prairie Day use area until June 23 or until otherwise posted.
