Bugaboos - Lots Of New Snow!

Bugaboos Conditions

Climbing Conditions

We just spent the last four days in the Bugaboos where it has snowed up to 40cm on the higher glaciers in the last week. Most of it had melted off the talus at the Kain hut elevation by the time we left yesterday but the glaciers and anything else above 2500m was still very winter like.
Glacier travel was tricky with lots of new bridges but these were becoming easier to see once they started sagging in the heat of the sun. Travel was variable due to a sometimes carrying crust about 20cm below the surface.
On the brighter side, the Bugaboo - Snowpatch col is in much better shape than it was a week ago.
Higher shady aspects will be snowy for quite a while (maybe next July!) but I'm guessing McTech Arête would have been pretty nice in the afternoon sun yesterday.
