Columbia Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) responded to a flooding event in Bugaboo Provincial Park earlier today.
.
All hikers and climbers in the park’s core area were safely evacuated by a team from CVSAR with the help of @alpinehelicopters
.
⚠️ The area is now CLOSED. ⚠️
According to the BC Parks website:
“Until flooding subsides and Parks staff are able to assess residual hazards and damage done to facilities, the entire Core Area of Bugaboo Park including the Kain Hut Trail is closed until further notice.”
.
The closure includes:
Kain Hut
Kain Hut Trail
Boulder Camp
Applebee Dome Camp
.
Check the BC Parks Bugaboo Park webpage for updates. Please respect these closures for your safety and the safety of others. Thank you for your cooperation.

See the attached photo of the new outflow of the tarn.

Thanks to the ACMG guides and ACC staff who helped us today with the safe and rapid evacuation of their clients and the public, and thanks to Alpine Helicopters and CMH.
